More than 150 award winners, families & staff celebrated the successful achievement of apprenticeships and NVQs at Rochdale Training’s 39th Annual Prize-giving at the Town Hall, attended by the Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Robin Parker & Mayoress Mrs Ann Jones.
John Huxley, Chief Executive of Rochdale Training, commented: “Celebrating success is always good news and we are very happy to assist the people of Rochdale in contributing to this government’s target of improving national skill levels. Last year we received over £1million to assist the local economy and we will be trying to win more training funds for the people of Rochdale again this year.
“Most employers know that on-the-job training is a cost-effective way of improving business and when many courses are government–funded it is a shame for anyone to miss out. Our business has quadrupled in six years and our success rates with apprentices are the best in Rochdale and in the top 10% across the North West.”
Under Rochdale Training’s guidance, 560 people from Rochdale and across the North West have gained nationally recognised qualifications in a host of business topics including engineering & manufacturing, business administration, health & social care, leadership & management: a rise of over 193 on the number at the previous prize-giving.
Prize winners included Joe Stoloff of Farrel Ltd, this year’s first year engineering apprentice of the year, and Ernest Curzon, workshop manager at Rochdale Training.
Other prize winners were Jordan Beard and Bradley Mooney of Precision Technologies Group Ltd who won joint engineering apprentice of the year; Michelle Bidski of United Springs won business administration apprentice of the year; Ryan Cooper of Trufab Ltd was runner-up first year engineering apprentice of the year and Meadows Care Ltd won the group award for adult learner of the year.
