Townships In Bloom winners to be revealed

Rochdale in Bloom
The winners of this year’s Townships in Bloom competition are to be announced later this month. Organised by Rochdale Council, the ceremony will take place at Rochdale Town Hall on Thursday 25 September at 12noon.
From improvements to household gardens, backyards and hanging baskets, to blooming wonderful public houses and community group projects, the Townships In Bloom competition has once again been encouraging people and businesses to take pride in their local environment and make the town a more colourful place to live, work, visit and do business.
Winners and runners up will be announced and awards, cash prizes and certificates presented for the following Townships In Bloom 2008 categories:
Household Garden
Backyards, Balcony and Small Patio Gardens
The All-in-One Garden Centre Hanging Baskets Trophy
Businesses – Retail Premises, Offices, Industrial & Commercial Premises
Best Public House
Community Groups (This would include sheltered schemes)
Schools Environmental Projects
The Casey Group Clean & Green Trophy Award
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing Award for Best Garden by a Council Tenant
Cabinet member for environment & sustainability, Councillor Wera Hobhouse said: “Since the launch of this year’s Townships In Bloom contest in May, we’ve had a tremendous response from residents, businesses and community groups all eager to get involved and get digging for victory!
“It’s evident that our borough has quite a few talented horticulturalists, so it will be interesting to see who the winners are this year.”
