Bus services affected by Go North West strike

Go North West bus services will be affected by a drivers’ strike from Sunday (28 February).

Members of the Unite union employed by Go North West will walk out indefinitely from Sunday 28 February in a dispute over pay and conditions.
 


Locally the strike will affect the 17 service between Rochdale, Middleton and Manchester Shudehill; the 18 between Langley and the Manchester Royal Infirmary, and the 41 to Sale from Middleton as the only Go North West operated services in the Rochdale borough.


The services affected are:

Monday-Saturday services

17 (Rochdale and Manchester via Middleton)

  • Reduced to every 20 mins (from 12 mins), evenings every 30 mins (no change)
  • Sat – every 20 mins (from 15 mins)
  • Alternative travel – trains (Rochdale, Castleton, Mills Hill, Moston); Metrolink from Rochdale town centre/railway station (Rochdale line) or Queen’s Road, Cheetham Hill (Bury line)

18 (Manchester Royal Infirmary and Langley)

  • Revised to operate every 20 mins (from 12 mins), evenings every 30 mins. Daytime links to MRI enhanced.
  • Alternative travel – Bus (163 and Oxford Road, Manchester services)

41 (Middleton and Sale via Didsbury)

  • Reduced to every 30 mins (from 20 mins) daytime only (evening services unaffected)
  • Alternative travel – Metrolink (East Didsbury, Bury); bus (Oxford Rd services, 19, 135)

Sunday services

17 (Rochdale and Manchester via Middleton)

  • Reduced to every 30 mins (from 20 mins), evenings every 30 mins
  • Alternative travel – trains (Rochdale, Castleton, Mills Hill, Moston); Metrolink from Rochdale town centre/railway station (Rochdale line) or Queen’s Road, Cheetham Hill (Bury line)

18 (Manchester Royal Infirmary and Langley)

  • Minor evening timetable change (coordinate with #17). No frequency changes.
  • Alternative travel – Bus (163 and Oxford Road, Manchester services)

41 (Middleton and Sale via Didsbury)

  • Sale – MRI reduced to 60 mins (from 30 mins) daytime only (evening services unaffected)
  • Alternative travel – Metrolink (East Didsbury, Bury); bus (Oxford Rd services, 19, 135)
