An artist from Milnrow is to have an exhibition of his work at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival.
Twelve of Christopher Rainham's culinary paintings will be shown at the Royal Exchange Theatre, in front of the Theatre's restaurant, 'The Round'.
Christopher, who has lived in Milnrow for 16 years, was delighted to get an exhibtion at the festival, which will run throughout October. He said: "Getting an exhibition at the Royal Exchange is something I have wanted to do for ages. Whenever I am in Manchester I always head over to the Theatre to see what is happening, even if I'm not heading that way.
"It's great to know that my paintings are going to be exhibited and next year I'm hoping to get the whole of the 2D space to show more of my paintings.
"The Food and Drink festival is great for Manchester and for Rochdale because there are a lot of places in the town that are doing their own thing to contribute."
Christopher has always had a passion for food and has appeared on TV cookery shows Master Chef and Ready Steady Cook. He explains: "I've always been a bit of a food-head and its been a strain of my work for the last eight years. I've been inspired by food so obviously I'm glad that my work will be part of the festival."
Christopher and his wife moved to Milnrow shortly after he graduated from University in Wolverhamption, where the couple first met. They have lived in the town ever since and Christopher has a studio at their home where he creates his work, which uses acrylic paint on wooden boards.
He has been exhibiting his work ever since he began his artistic career twenty years ago. His personal highlights include an exhibition in Seattle in the United States and having pieces of his work published in the Radio Times.
