Daleks invade library opening
Date published: 08 September 2008
Dr Who and the Daleks were on hand to celebrate the re-opening of the newly refurbished Smallbridge Library on Saturday (6 September).
Visitors to the library took part in a host of activities, including competitions, prizes, a treasure trail, face painting and exhibitions.
Special guest Daleks and Time Lord custome were at the celebration, courtesy of the BBC Doctor Who Exhibition & Museum in Blackpool, along with Tardis and mini Daleks with sound and light display provided by Chris Etherington.
Smallbridge Councillor Jean Ashworth cut the ribbon to mark the re-opening of the library. She said: "It was a fantastic event, really well attended by families and children of all ages, who joined in the Alien drawing competition, face and hand painting and lots of other fun.
It was a very proud day for Smallbridge; the library looks brilliant and gave everyone a chance to see that there is more to our library service than just borrowing a book these days."
Regular opening hours at Smallbridge Library are Monday 9.30am-1.00pm and 2.00pm-7.30pm; Tuesday 9.30am-12.30pm; Wednesday CLOSED; Thursday 9.30am-1.00pm, 2.00pm-5.30pm; Friday 9.30am-1.00pm, 2.00pm-5.30pm; Saturday 9.30am-12.30pm.
