The Co-op at Cutgate awarded a Community Grant fund cheque for the sum of £200 to local community group Rochdale in Bloom last week.
Bev Place, Member Pioneer for the Co-op in Rochdale said: "Rochdale in Bloom have created numerous lovely floral displays across the borough and have done this without a budget. The bike display which stands at the top of the Cutgate precinct was extended significantly by the group at the start of the summer and the Co-op felt it only right that they contribute to the associated costs."
Councillor Rachel Massey, who collected the cheque on behalf of the group, said: “Rochdale in Bloom is a voluntary community group which relies on donations of plants as well as monetary donations, to create and maintain a range of displays across the borough. Their work makes a real difference to the lives of all of us in Rochdale.
“On behalf of the group, I was delighted to receive the cheque and I am very grateful to the Co-op at Cutgate for providing this donation towards their work.”
