Date published: 31 August 2020

Local student Sohail Turner is celebrating his degree after being awarded a 2:1 BSC in Computer Science and Game Development from the University of Hull.

Prior to university Sohail, from Rochdale, attended Haslingden High School before completing his A-levels at Oldham Sixth Form College.

During his four-year degree, Sohail’s first two years at university were spent in Hull developing the skills and knowledge needed whilst also completing his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

He spent his third year studying at the University of Osnabrück in Germany as an Erasmus student; learning some German in between studies, student life and travels to places such as Holland.

For his final year, Sohail returned to Hull and whilst completing his studies and dissertation he was the captain of the Ultimate Frisbee Team for the university and travelled to various competitions with his team before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sohail will be returning to Hull in September to complete a master’s degree and hopes his graduation ceremony will take place in the future.

His family commented: “We are really proud of his achievements and wish him all the best for his future studies and endeavours.”
