Buses return to pre-Covid timetables

Date published: 28 August 2020

North West bus operators Rosso and Go North West have confirmed many of their buses will return to pre-Covid timetables.

Go North West has confirmed its services, such as the 17 Manchester-Rochdale, will return to their pre-Covid timetables from Tuesday 1 September.

The operator has said the X63 Heywood-Manchester has returned at busy times, but isn’t running during the day yet. Go North West will look at the number of people travelling on the service, and make a decision later in the year.

Sunday bus times will be in place on Monday 31 August.

The ‘new’ timetables can be found at:

Some of Rosso’s services will return to normal from Sunday 30 August, as children prepare to return to school five months on from the start of lockdown restrictions. The bus firm says increasing number of customers are also returning to its services for work and leisure trips now that travel restrictions have eased.

Some changes include:

  • 464: Accrington to Rawtenstall, then Bacup and Rochdale: normal timetable resumed with minor timing changes. The 7.43am journey from Bacup to Rochdale and the 7.43am bus from Rochdale to Whitworth will be reserved for school students only
  • Lakeline: Rochdale to Littleborough – normal timetable resumed
  • Tottington Line: Tottington to Bury – normal timetable resumed, with special service 969 at 8.07am from Bury to Tottington High School, returning at 3.10pm, reserved for school students only
  • Trax: Bury to Rochdale – Normal timetable resumed, but no FAST journeys will operate. Additional school day only journeys will run at 7.43am from Fairfield Hospital to Bury, and at 4.10pm from Bury to Fairfield

Other Rosso services will continue to run at unchanged times, while a Sunday service will run on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August 2020.
