Morrisons Rochdale encouraging those at risk to use doorstep delivery service

Date published: 28 August 2020

Morrisons Rochdale are encouraging people who are still shielding, vulnerable or elderly to use their doorstep delivery service.

Introduced back at the start of lockdown in March, Morrisons doorstep delivery service differs from the usual online shopping as it offers next day delivery of goods - available for home delivery from Tuesday – Sunday.

To use this service, customers must contact Morrisons operating service by phoning 0345 611 6111 then selecting option 5. You must place your order before 4pm for delivery the next day.

A member of Morrisons picking system will then pick the order from your local store – within a 10-mile radius of your address - and it will be delivered to your doorstep before 5pm.

Morrisons drivers will have a mobile chip and pin machine to hand, so customers must pay by card on arrival.

In addition to this, Emma Pedgrift, Community Champion at Morrisons Rochdale, is encouraging customers to fill out questionnaires located in Morrisons café so the Kingsway store can respond to the needs of the local community during the current pandemic.

Thousands of pounds worth of food donations has already been distributed to Rochdale Foodbank and Rochdale Soup Kitchen, which the local store is still supporting.

Emma said: “I want to know how Morrisons as a company and myself as a Morrisons community champion can help our community. Morrisons have now invested more into the community role which means more hours and time to help and support where it is most needed.

“Before Covid-19 we had a weekly HMR Circle group in our cafe where lonely people could come for a natter. We also helped care homes, schools, groups, charities, and organisations in our community by donating hampers, food platters, wines and more for fundraising events and to support where needed. We also usually have groups of bag packers and manned collections for them to raise money however, with all that has been going on, we have not been able to.

"Going forward myself and the store manager would like to listen and respond to the needs of our local community, so I have set up questionnaires in our cafe and staff canteen to get people’s views on how we can help locally.

“We would like to work close with all stakeholders close to store and wondered if the public could help by telling us who's best to contact, who needs help the most, and what can we do as a store.

“We are a local supermarket committed to providing outstanding local service at the heart of our local communities.”

If you cannot get into store to fill out a questionnaire, you can receive one virtually by emailing champion.rochdale@morrisonsplc.co.uk
