New Children’s Asthma Clinic in Littleborough
Date published: 01 September 2008
The Children’s Asthma Service at NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale is starting a new clinic in Littleborough this week.
The clinic will be open from 2pm to 5pm from Thursday 4 September, and every Thursday afternoon thereafter.
The Children’s Asthma Service consists of specialist children’s asthma nurses who are part of the Children’s Community Nursing Team at NHS HMR.
The nurses provide asthma education and support to every child and their family across the borough. They visit children at home as well as inviting them into a clinic.
Paula Flint, the team’s clinical lead at NHS HMR, said: “The Children’s Asthma Service works closely with parents and children, other health professionals, local schools and the local council to promote awareness and understanding of the condition and ensure children with asthma are able to lead full and active lives."
The Children’s Asthma Service is provided Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, excluding bank holidays, and any parent, carer or health professional can refer a child into the service.
The service also provides a Children's Asthma Drop-in Clinic offering information, help and support in managing asthma. It runs every Monday (excluding bank holidays) from 2pm to 5pm at Derby Street Children’s Centre in Heywood. No appointment is necessary.
For more information about the service or to arrange an appointment that is convenient to you, contact the Children’s Asthma Service on 01706 651967.
