Broadfield customers could lose thousands
Date published: 28 August 2008
The fallout from the closure of the Broadfield Hotel continues and Rochdale Online can reveal that thousands of pounds of customer's cash could be lost after the company that ran the hotel, 'Ivydale Management Ltd', went into administration yesterday.
Rochdale Online believes that the Broadfield had bookings up to the end of next year and it is thought that any of those customers that had paid deposits by cash, cheque or direct debit will not receive a re-payment.
Those who paid by credit card are expected to be able to recover their money through their insurance.
Ivydale has gone into the receivership of rescue and recovery company 'Milner, Boardman and Partners', based in Hale, Altrincham. A spokesman for the company said it was very unlikely that people who had made payments in cash would be re-imbursed.
"There was an attempted buy-back of the company but this fell through late on Tuesday evening and the company went into administration. The Broadfield Hotel as a business has ceased trading as far as we are concerned.
"We are advising people to get in touch with their credit card companies and recover their money through their insurance.
"Unfortunately people who paid cash will have to make an un-secured claim to the company in administration. It is very early days but I have to say the chances of being paid a dividend are very, very unlikely."
