Defibrillators donated by Rochdale Heartbeat

Date published: 17 February 2020

Four new defibrillators have been donated since the start of the year by local charity Rochdale Heartbeat.

The £800 defibrillators, used in emergency medicine to reset the heart in cardiac arrest, have been installed in three churches and a school – with a fifth to be installed later this week.

So far, Thomas' Church in Newhey, St Aidan’s Church in Sudden, Spotland Methodist Church on Rooley Moor Road and St Herbert’s RC Primary School in Chadderton have benefitted from the lifesaving equipment.

A fifth will be installed at Wardle Village Church on Sunday (23 February).

Rochdale Heartbeat was formed in 1988, and became a registered charity in 1990, the aim of Heartbeat being, that it offered heart patients the opportunity to continue their recovery programme after the NHS rehab finishes by providing the same facilities for exercise and support.

The members are all volunteers and all the funds raised by events and donations goes into providing defibrillators or other equipment for heart patients.
