The Springhill Hospice to Hospice Walk is back

Date published: 04 February 2020

This week sees the launch of Springhill Hospice’s 14th Hospice to Hospice Walk.

Returning on Sunday 26 April 2020, the annual Hospice event sees Springhill join forces with Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Oldham, where walkers  will take on the 7.25 miles circular route between the two hospices.

The event welcomes everyone from seasoned walkers to those wanting to enjoy the route and take in the stunning views of the surrounding areas, burn some calories and have some fun with all the family! There are no time or age limits for the walk, everyone is welcome to help raise money for the Hospice, even your four- legged friends!

The walk will begin at Springhill Hospice on Broad Lane at 10.30am, where walkers will begin their journey over to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Oldham. Supporters will be able to rest their feet, have a brew and a chat at Dr Kershaw’s before making the trip back to Springhill, where they will complete the walk and be presented with a commemorative medal, a well-earned drink and a Springhill Smile.

This year’s event is also taking on a more environmentally friendly approach by using wooden medals for those taking part instead of the usual metal ones handed out when the walk is completed. Participating walkers are also being encouraged to bring along their own water bottles to refill on the day instead of being provided with the usual single use plastic bottles to save on plastic waste.

Springhill’s Events and Campaigns Fundraiser, Rebekah Cheshire said: “Our Hospice to Hospice Walk is a superb family fundraiser and a lovely inclusive community event. Last year we had a fabulous 540 walkers supporting us, raising a magnificent £23,399. This year we would love you to join us once again, with family and friends, to continue to help us 'make every moment count' for our patients and their families. We hope to see you there and we just know you will definitely fill your daily step quota.”
