Local Co-op food stores donate to Rochdale and District Mind

Date published: 28 January 2020

A donation of £250 has been made to Rochdale and District Mind by local Co-op stores.

Rochdale's two Co-op food stores, Cutgate Precinct and Rooley Moor Road, accessed a Community Fund to the value of £250, offered by the Co-op's Head Office to help local charities or good causes to do something positive in their community.

Rochdale and District Mind is raising money to provide materials for their new craft shed on the very popular allotment project, the Growth Project.

A cheque was presented by the two store managers, Chris Holt and Chris Lucas and member pioneer Bev Place to Sabba Razzaq from Rochdale and District Mind on Monday (27 January).

Bev said: "It is wonderful that the Co-op is able to help an organisation like Mind who do so much good work for people with mental health issues living across Rochdale.

“I am pleased that the money will be used to provide wood for tables, chairs, and equipment in the Growth Project craft shed as it will certainly make a big difference."

Paula Hall, Fundraising Co-ordinator at Rochdale and District Mind, said: “We’d like to thank the Co-op for their kind donation. The Growth Project, in partnership with Hourglass help people with physical and mental disabilities come together to learn from each other, grow their own food and to make friends."

For more information about the project, please contact Alison Connolly, project co-ordinator on 01706 752338.
