Rochdale charity distributes winter essentials to Manchester's homeless

Date published: 29 January 2020

The Rochdale branch of the One Nation charity distributed winter packs and hot drinks to the homeless and needy in Manchester on Saturday (25 January).

Volunteers handed out around 50 winter packs consisting thermal hats, gloves, socks, nutritional bars and water. Coffee and tea was also served.

One Nation Rochdale chose to distribute the essentials in Manchester as according to the first national statistics capturing the pattern of deaths among rough sleepers and people living in homeless shelters, more homeless people died in Manchester than in any other local authority area in England and Wales.

Branch manager of One Nation Rochdale, Mojahid Ali said: “We go out every winter and we will continue to for as long as we can. We try our best to do it as often as we possibly can, especially through the winter period. Nobody deserves to be cold.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our wonderful donors and volunteers who support our projects and allow us to do the work we do.

“Without them, it wouldn’t be possible.”

One Nation is a UK-based humanitarian charity which supports local, national and international projects, from providing hot food and support for the homeless to providing emergency aid, clean water, food, clothes and shelters in devastated countries around the world.
