The donation from the Smile Again Foundation
Hundreds of pounds’ worth of food has been donated to Rochdale Foodbank by the Smile Again Foundation.
The non-profit organisation raised £200 through member donations and a raffle, which ultimately went on a big food shop for the local foodbank.
Rochdale Foodbank provides three-days’ worth of goods to those in need, identified by one of over 130 agencies in Rochdale. It was set up in 2012 by Iain and Margaret Wight.
Typically receiving most donations during harvest and at Christmas, donations received by the foodbank must last all year so there is enough to go around.
Last year, more than 6,600 three-day emergency food supplies were given to people in crisis at Rochdale Foodbank, providing more than 2,200 children with provisions.
The Smile Again Foundation is a new not-for-profit organisation, which is currently in the process of registering to become a charity.
