Entrepreneurial Holy Trinity pupils raise hundreds for school funds

Date published: 22 December 2019

Littleborough pupils at Holy Trinity C of E Primary School have been busy showing off entrepreneurial skills that would rival those of Alan Sugar’s Apprentice, raising £440 during their Enterprise Week event.

Children were given the chance to learn about the business world first-hand, with each class given the responsibility to come up with and implement a money-making scheme to raise maximum profits.

Pen pots, bird feeders, pom-poms, Harry Potter wands and portable games were just some of the in-demand items that the children worked hard to make and then market and sell to fellow pupils.

Mrs Bradford, teacher at Holy Trinity, says: “Our Enterprise Week is always a highlight of the year. It is fantastic to watch the children’s energy and enthusiasm as they take their projects from ideas stage to sales, and there is no better way to help them learn about business than giving them chance to run their own!

“The end of week sale, in particular, is a valuable exercise as not only do the children get the buzz from seeing how well their products sell, but it’s also great money-handling experience with even our youngest Reception pupils enjoying the buying and selling of wares.”

“It’s not all been about business brains though - on the same day as our Enterprise Sale, the children, and their families, demonstrated real heart with a huge amount of donations for our Rochdale Foodbank collection.”
