N-Compass maps out carers rights at special event

Date published: 20 November 2019

Thousands of local carers can learn more about the advice, help and support they are entitled to at the borough’s annual Carers’ Rights Day.

This year’s event will take place at Rochdale Football Club on Thursday 21 November from 9.30am.

Dozens of organisations will be on hand to provide help, support and advice on, winter fuel savings, advocacy, dementia support and the carers’ allowance scheme.

The range of council assistive technology and adaptations available for residents, such as fall detectors, grab rails, hand rails and level access showers, will also be showcased throughout the day.

Once again, the popular carers’ choir will start the day on a high note performing a number of timeless classics.

The day is organised for the council by the N-compass Northwest run Rochdale Carers’ Hub, who offer support, advice and information to over 25,000 carers of all ages across the borough.

Councillor Billy Sheerin, the Mayor of Rochdale, said: “We have thousands of carers of all ages across the borough doing a dedicated and selfless job supporting and caring for their loved ones. Carers’ Rights Day is an important event on the calendar as it showcases all the help, support and advice that is available throughout the year to our wonderful carers.”

Rochdale’s Carers’ Rights Day is on Thursday 21 November from 9.30am to 1.30pm at the Radcliffe Suite at Rochdale Football Club in Sandy Lane. The event is free and anyone is welcome to attend.
