Middleton girl presents cheque to Rochdale and District Mind

Date published: 26 October 2019

Scarlett Thornley Jackson bowled Rochdale and District Mind staff over when she presented them with £80 that she’d raised through a cake and bake at St Michael’s Church, Alkrington where she attends scouts.

Scarlett, aged 10, went to the Mind offices premises on Wednesday 16 October to present a cheque to staff with her mum Sarah and grandma Barbara.

Barbara said: “(Staff at Mind) all made her feel so wonderful and appreciated today and I, and her mum, are so grateful for that. She was so pleased with their kind words and gifts. Scarlett has anxiety and confidence issues, and knows the importance of talking things through, even when it is sometimes hard. If we can help with fundraising in the future for Rochdale, we will.”

Scarlett has asked for the donation to go towards Mind's local wellbeing services.

Paula Hall, fundraising co-ordinator for Rochdale and District Mind said “Meeting Scarlett was the best thing that happened that day for all staff, we were all emotional with the way that she spoke about mental health and she is a credit to her family. We can’t wait to see her again. Thank you Scarlett.”
