The collision occurred between J22 at Rishworth Moor and J21 at Milnrow on Sunday (29 September), closing the motorway for several hours.

According to the North West Motorway Police, the incident could have occurred due to “a combination of poor driving and wet weather.”

The driver was taken to hospital with injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

In an update on Monday (30 September), the North West Motorway Police said: “Our officer has been to see the driver today and can confirm that they will make a full recovery.
