Harry Alldritt shortlisted for Community Rail Award

Date published: 30 September 2019

Volunteer Harry Alldritt, of Middleton, has been shortlisted for an award at this year’s Community Rail Partnership Membership & Advice (ACoRP) Community Rail Awards.

Nominated by Transport for Greater Manchester, Harry, who looks after Rochdale, Mills Hill and Moston railway stations, has been shortlisted alongside seven others shortlisted for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution.

Railway enthusiast Harry said: “It’s quite humbling, really. I never expected to be nominated even though I do a lot of work at the stations.

“I do what I do because there’s a lot of satisfaction in it.”

Harry has worked at the Mills Hill station for around 15 years, and at Rochdale and Moston for eight, helping to keep the stations looking clean and tidy.

He also runs the Friends Of groups for each of the stations.

ACoRP’s Community Rail Awards recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of everybody involved in community rail.

The Community Rail Awards gala dinner will be hosted at The International Centre, Telford, on Thursday 3 October.
