Greenbooth Village is one of several nominations for the Rochdale Borough Design Awards ‘People’s Design Award' 2019
The shortlist for this year’s Rochdale Borough Design Awards has been announced and it’s time for you to vote for the 2019 ‘People’s Design Award'.
The council’s Rochdale Borough Design Awards celebrate the best in new development design, focusing on the relationship between good design and building successful communities.
Seven buildings or regeneration projects have been put forward this year by local people, who nominated their favourites.
The shortlisted projects are:
- The conversion of the former Santander bank to Rochdale Indoor Food Hall (including Montagues café)
- The Strand Hub, Kirkholt
- Willows Dementia Hub, Rochdale
- Restoration of the Carnegie Library building, Castleton
- New homes in Lower Falinge
- Greenbooth Village, Norden
- Residential development, Birch Hill Hospital, Wardle
Councillor Carol Wardle, cabinet member for planning, development and housing said: “These awards highlight some of the very best local design projects.
“This year’s shortlist includes innovative examples of existing buildings being completely transformed and new schemes that have enhanced their communities.
“The annual list always illustrates just how much regeneration and improvement is taking place, but now it’s over to residents to decide. I wish them all good luck.”
Last year the restoration of two semi-detached houses designed by famous local architect Edgar Wood at 51-53 Rochdale Road in Middleton won the People’s Design Award.
