Young adults host party at Rosemary Care Home

Date published: 05 August 2019

Over the last couple of weeks two groups of young adults from The Challenge have been working with residents at Rosemary Care Home in Milnrow and raising money and awareness about issues of dementia and isolation in the elderly.

Rachel Fenwick-Finn, activities co-ordinator, at Rosemary Care Home said: “Last week the first group made art work and helped to make our disabled entrance to the home a much more welcoming space and they worked on the garden.

“The second group came on Saturday 3 August and hosted a wonderful summer party for our residents.

“They are also have a campaign called ‘Fighting against loneliness-dementia awareness’.

“These young people made real connections with our residents and were an absolute pleasure to work with.”

The Challenge is a registered charity and is the largest provider of National Citizen Service (NCS) in England.

Social mixing is at the heart of NCS and brings young people aged 15 - 17 from different backgrounds together for a common purpose. By making the programme accessible for everyone and by setting team goals and challenges, they hope to inspire new friendships across differences. NCS is a three to four-week programme, broken down into four phases: Adventure, Skills, Social Action and Beyond NCS.
