Mainly dry weekend ahead

Date published: 02 August 2019

Today, Friday 2 August will essentially remain dry for most places with temperatures around 24 degrees, though a few showers may develop through this afternoon, away from any showers there should be some decent spells of sunshine.

Tonight, any lingering showers should clear away through the evening. After midnight it should essentially remain dry, although areas of low cloud will tend to become more extensive.

Saturday will be rather cloudy through the first half of the day, but through the afternoon it should brighten up with temperatures around 23 degrees. For the most part it should remain dry, though occasional showers may develop.

Sunday will be wet with outbreaks of rain or showers, perhaps heavy with temperatures around 23 degrees.

The Met Office have forecasted scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms for Sunday which may cause some transport disruption and flooding.

The new working week looks to start on the generally cloudy side, with showers or longer spells of rain for some areas with temperatures dropping slightly to around 20 degrees.

Some spells could be on the heavy and thundery side, and in the light winds any precipitation could be rather slow-moving.
