Yorkshire Street alleyways cleaned up

Alleyways, such as this one leading to the Reed, have been cleaned up
Alleyways extending from Yorkshire Street in Rochdale town centre have been given a clean by the Rochdale Business Improvement District (BID).
Responding to concerns raised by local businesses, several alleyways leading to the main high street were cleaned of graffiti and litter, making everything look that much better for summer.
Jayne May, Project Executive from the BID, said: “We’re working really hard this year to make sure we improve the visitor experience within the BID area. Working in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council, we already maintain a clean and tidy town centre to ensure it is as welcoming as possible to our visitors.
“We want to enhance what we already do by organising clean-up campaigns which will help to improve the perception of the town centre.”
Launched in April 2019, the BID represents 200 businesses in Rochdale town centre and was formed following a vote in November 2018. Businesses with a rateable value of £12,000 or above pay an annual levy of 1.75% of their business rates to the BID, creating a collective fund to spend on projects to improve the local trading environment through the provision of added value services over the next five years.
If you wish to get involved in any clean-up campaigns or have spotted areas of the town centre which need cleaning, please contact the BID team:
