Student wins bronze The Duke of York Award

Isobel Elsworth is the first student in her school to win a bronze The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award.
Whitworth Community High School student Isobel, 13, explained: “It is an online platform where you answer specific questions to earn points and when you have enough you get a badge.
“My teacher recommended it to me because it would help with revision. I think it is a fun way to help people learn and it has helped me with my coursework.”
She said some questions related to coding and some were about online safety.
Science and maths teacher Bilaal Hanif said: “This term all Year 8 students have been working towards a bronze certificate on The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA) in Computing lessons.
“We are currently in the process of drawing up plans to roll this out to all year group, so every student has an opportunity to improve and learn new digital skills such as website design, game design, video editing, animation, virtual reality and social media.”
