Leak caused weekend chaos on Middleton roads
Date published: 11 August 2008
A white foaming liquid that leaked onto Manchester Old Road in Middleton caused chaos for drivers on Saturday morning (9 August).
Firecrews attended the scene at around 10:45am to find a non-hardous soap based detergent had leaked from a skip on the Stakehill Industrial Estate.
Heavy rain mixed with the liquid created a foaming substance that overflowed drains and flooded onto roadways between Stakehill Road and Manchester Old Road.
Fire Officers remained in attendance to liaise with United Utilities and the Environment Agency regarding the disposal of the substance.
