Family pays tribute to motorbike crash victim

The family of a motorcyclist who died after colliding with a car on Pilsworth Road have paid tribute to him.

He has been formally identified as Michael Anthony Peplow of Heywood Hall Road, Heywood.

Shortly before 10pm on Saturday (9 August), the 19-year-old motorcyclist, who was riding a blue Triumph, was in collision with a blue Ford Mondeo on Pilsworth Road, near to its junction with Moss Hall Road.

His father, Anthony, and mother, Carole, have paid tribute to their son.

They said: "Michael was a keen motorcyclist and snowboarder, and enjoyed spending time on his computer.

"Prior to attending Hopwood Hall College to study computer maintenance, he was a pupil at St Joseph's High School, Heywood.

"He was working at the Morrison's supermarket in Heywood.

"Michael will be sadly missed by all his friends and family following this tragic accident."

Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Area Three Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8473.
