Rochdale church vandalised with painted graffiti

A church in Balderstone, Rochdale, has been vandalised after paint was sprayed onto its doors and walls.

Big yellow bubble letters saying ‘YEMEN’ have been sprayed onto the wall of St Mary’s Church on Oldham Road, whilst the words ‘GOD SAVE YEMEN’ has been daubed on its doors in white paint.

The vandalism is believed to have occurred at around 4am on Thursday 28 March.

The church warden of St Mary’s has been approached for comment.

A member of Greater Manchester Police’s Rochdale team said: “We are aware that St Mary's Church on Oldham Road has fallen victim to criminal damage in the form of graffiti.

“If you have seen or heard anything which may assist us identify an offender please give us a call, crime number is 082145M/19.”
