19-year old motorcyclist dies in crash

A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car on Pilsworth Road on Saturday evening (9 August).
Shortly before 10pm the 19-year-old motorcyclist, who was riding a blue Triumph, was in collision with a blue Ford Mondeo on Pilsworth Road, near to its junction with Moss Hall Road.
It is belived the motorcyclist skidded while riding through flood water and collided with the car which was coming in the opposite direction.
The rider was taken to Fairfield General Hospital with serious head injuries but was later pronounced dead.
Formal identification has yet to take place.
The driver of the Mondeo was not injured.
Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Area Three Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8473.
