Shoppers can now vote for Wince Brook path improvements with blue tokens

The new path in Wince Brook
Between March and April, Tesco shoppers in Middleton will be able to use their blue tokens to vote for path improvements in Wince Brook nature reserve.
The Friends of Wince Brook will receive a minimum of £1,000 or a maximum of £4,000 from the scheme which donates funds raised from the 5p bag levy.
The stone path will stretch from Davidson Drive to the boardwalks, and also from Mainway East to bridge four. Currently, both areas are just muddy fields where there hasn't been a developed footpath before.
A funding application towards the £7,000 path was granted in February.
A spokesperson for the Friends of Wince Brook said: “Any money we receive will go towards developing the linear path from Kirkway to Mainway East, which is about 1.5 miles.
“We are also going to erect a sign, at each end, indicating certain features of the route.”
The path was first proposed by the Friends of Wince Brook group last spring after the path from Kirkway to bridge one was regenerated.
Since launching in 2015, the Tesco Bags of Help scheme has awarded more than £33 million across more than 6,400 local projects in 600 communities.
