Date published: 28 February 2019

A contractor has denied corporate manslaughter after a man fatally fell from a roof in Rochdale.

Mark Francis Bray, of Warrington, appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday (27 February), charged with corporate manslaughter after Kenneth Drake, 54, fell to his death in Rochdale in 2015.

Kenneth was working for Roofing Consultants Limited (RCL), replacing a roof on 24 January 2015 when he fell. He died as a result of his injuries.

Bray has denied manslaughter, but has pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice.

The company he works for, Roofing Consultants Limited, also faces a charge of corporate manslaughter and failure to ensure the health and safety of an employee.

Managing Director Richard Lennon, also of Warrington, faces a charge of being an official of a body which committed an offence under the health and safety act.

High Ridge Roofing Solutions faces a charge of failing to plan, manage and monitor construction work, whilst Abbey Architectural Ironmongery Company Limited faces a charge of failing to make suitable arrangements for construction work.

The trial continues.
