What’s Your Beef’s Stateside Deluxe has won an award as one of the UK's best burgers
A local street food catering duo have been named as making one of the best burgers in the country.
Rochdale men Neil Standring and Eddie Pope – better known as 'What’s Your Beef' – were named as one of the UK’s top five burgers at the 2019 National Burger Awards.
This year’s prestigious National Burger Awards took place in London’s Islington Metal Works in February, featuring 15 of the country’s best in an amazing burger-off.
What’s Your Beef’s Neil squared up to the grill and prepared the Rochdale firm’s most popular – the Stateside Deluxe – for the panel of judges, including head of food development at national chain, Las Iguanas, Telegraph Food columnist Xanthe Clay and Tristan O’Hana, the editorial director of Casual Dining Magazine.
Neil said: “We’re so chuffed. It was really nerve-wracking making the Stateside Deluxe in front of all the competition and for all those judges. But we know it’s a proper good one – that’s why we chose it.
“It’s always been a best-seller, always been on the menu and it’s the one we enter competitions with. It’s a great crowd-pleaser.
“Being placed in the top five is amazing; we received some great feedback. It goes to show that all our hard work and burger dedication were worth it, and we can’t wait for more people to taste our burgers.”
What’s Your Beef was born in December 2014, through Eddie and Neil’s mutual love of burgers.
Seeing a growing trend for street food in the south, they seized the opportunity to bring something new to their hometown.
Since then, What’s Your Beef has become a recognised Rochdale name, catering many public events across the UK, including Rochdale’s Food and Drink Festival and the Feel Good Festival.
