Natural History Adventure themed cake competition

Date published: 27 February 2019

With Dippy the Dinosaur visiting Rochdale from February to June next year as part of a UK tour, organisers of Rochdale Food & Drink Festival want you to come up with an idea for a tasty cake designed around the ‘Dippy on tour, a natural history adventure’ theme.

There will be two categories: adults and under 13s, judged by top chef Andrew Nutter and local quality cake baker, Natasha Brown.

The winning entrant will win a champagne experience gourmet dinner for two at Nutters Restaurant, with runners up being able to enjoy an afternoon tea for two at Brown’s Cakes.

The winner of the under 13’s category will get afternoon tea at Nutters Restaurant for themselves plus their parents/guardians, as well as a signed Andrew Nutter cookery book.

To enter, deliver your cake to the cake competition stand upstairs in the Great Hall at Rochdale Town Hall on Saturday 16 March between 10am and 12 noon. Present it on a disposable cake board, labelled with your name and entry category.

The winners will be announced on the Family Stage at 4.30pm during the festival.

Natasha Brown said it will be a lot of fun: “Excitement in Dippy the Dinosaur’s visit to Rochdale is building and its aim is to inspire people to find out more about the natural world around them, so you could make a cake with a dinosaur theme, a plant based cake, a fish shaped cake, there are lots of possibilities. Andrew and I are looking forward to meeting the region’s baking enthusiasts.”
