Latest Edgar Wood restoration preserves Middleton's proud heritage

Date published: 26 February 2019

Liz McInnes, Member of Parliament for Heywood and Middleton, has visited the restored Methodist Church school rooms on Long Street in Middleton, designed by Edgar Wood, and has paid tribute to all those who have made it happen.

The buildings have been restored by a number of volunteers, notably members of the Edgar Wood Society, and the school rooms feature spectacular windows which have been dedicated to nominated individuals.

Liz McInnes MP said: “It was great to visit Long Street Methodist Church and school rooms in Middleton on Saturday to see the restoration work to this fabulous Edgar Wood building.

"I'm proud to have sponsored a window dedicated to my predecessor, the late Jim Dobbin MP, who served Heywood and Middleton from 1997 to 2014.

"Well done to all those volunteers and members of the Edgar Wood Society who have worked so hard to restore this beautiful building and preserve Middleton's heritage.”
