Burst pipe leaves Littleborough residents without water

Date published: 05 February 2019

A burst water pipe has resulted in a number of Littleborough properties being left with little or no water on Tuesday afternoon (5 February from 12.50pm).

In a statement, water supplier United Utilities said: “You may have noticed that the water is coming out of your tap slower than usual or may have gone off altogether. We’ve been out to see what might be causing this and found a burst pipe on New Road.

“We’ve already got a team of engineers on site who are working hard to fix the pipe and we will update of any changes.

“We’re sorry for the trouble this may be causing you and we will get your taps flowing normally again as quickly as we can.”

Update: 5pm Tuesday 5 February

United Utilities has confirmed the repairs are complete and water should begin to flow as normal: "Our team of engineers have finished repairing the leaking pipe on New Road and the water should be starting to flow normally again. However it may take up to two hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels. We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.

"Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured, please check our Discoloured Water page for more information."
