RBH trainee and apprentice award winners take centre stage

Date published: 30 January 2019

Some of RBH’s newest employees are celebrating success following the announcement of the 2019 apprentice and trainee award winners.

All RBH apprentices and trainees are entered into the annual Trainee and Apprentice Awards. Supervisors, college assessors, and learning and development mentors are all asked to provide feedback on how each apprentice or trainee is performing and a winner in each of three categories is chosen.

The majority of people on RBH’s trainee and apprenticeship schemes find permanent employment at the end of their course with either RBH or another employer. The annual awards are a chance to recognise and reward the achievement of these colleagues.

The winners for 2019 were announced in a packed ceremony at the Pioneers Museum attended by candidates, work friends and their trainers and mentors.

The winners for this year are:

  • Trainee of the Year – Liliia Trenko
  • Apprentice of the Year (First year) – Jake McNally
  • Craft Apprentice of the Year – Matthew Worrall

Matthew Worrall was also selected as the overall winner for the progress he had made during the year.

Besides receiving their awards, the winners were also given High Street vouchers.

Sheena McDonnell, Interim Director of Customers and Communities, said: "The deciding panel were very impressed by the passion, enthusiasm and dedication of everyone they met. This made the decision-making incredibly difficult but, as we openly admit, also a real pleasure."
