Residents and businesses on and around Royle Road in Castleton have been left without electricity again (Tuesday 29 January) following a second power cut in a matter of days.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West, said: “We apologise to customers affected by this intermittent underground cable fault affecting customers in Castleton, Rochdale. The nature of these faults makes them very difficult to identify.

“Our engineers are currently onsite working to repair the fault and restore power supplies to customers. We’ve also fitted specialist equipment to a nearby substation to help us locate the cause of the ongoing faults and enable us to carry out long term repairs to ensure customers receive a reliable supply of power to their homes.

“Whilst we continue to work on long term repairs in the area, customers may continue to experience problems, but we are working hard to prevent this from happening.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience, and I encourage any residents to contact us if they have a power cut on the free national number 105 or 0800 195 4141.”

Approximately 30 properties have been affected by the power cut, reported just before 2.30pm, and power is estimated to be restored at around 8.30pm tonight.

Affected postcodes include:

OL11 3DT, OL11 3ET, OL11 3EX, OL11 3HA, OL11 3NT, OL11 3NU
