Date published: 28 January 2019

Holly Shadwell is delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the degree category of the British Education Awards 2019 in recognition of her academic achievements.

Holly, 27, a talented hairdresser and salon owner from Whitworth, graduated with a first class honours degree in June 2018 on completion of her Hairdressing Management BA (Hons) degree at Bury College University Centre.

Holly combined her studies with her very own salon launch and is now enjoying the growing success of her business.

She said: “It feels amazing to be attending the British Education Awards as a finalist. I am so happy to have achieved everything that I have done through the support of Bury College.”

A spokesperson for Bury College said: "During her studies, Holly consistently displayed a high level of commitment and dedication, completing her assignments to an exceptionally high standard and achieving high attendance."

The shortlisted candidates and the winners will be announced during the official ceremony on Thursday 31 January at Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

The British Education Awards recognise the value and importance of education and every award shortlisting identifies and celebrates individuals who have excelled within the British education system.

The Awards are made up of four categories including GCSE or Scottish National 5, A Level or Scottish Advanced Higher, Vocational and Degree.  Each award will be presented to winners in five regions, including England (divided into two zones), Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
