Groundwork to recruit latest cohort of Youth Advisory Board members

Groundwork is recruiting young people from across the UK to join the Groundwork Youth Advisory Board (YAB) to help shape the community charity’s vision at a national level by representing the voice of young people.

The YAB will consist of 20 young people aged 16-24 that have passion, commitment and are willing to be an active voice and share their views to help the community charity shape campaigns and youth work.

From February – November 2019, YAB members will be play a vital role in shaping future campaigns, in both ideas and in practice, with the opportunity to develop leadership potential, have fun, and make friends and motivate their peers by leading by example.

Project management, blogging and social media and campaign fruition and leadership opportunities will be a major part of the YAB role, and Groundwork will be providing support, resources, and encouragement needed to ensure the success of the programme.

Successful YAB members will build upon the successes of the last two years, following the first ever Groundwork ‘Youth Summit’, where 60 young people from all walks of the UK came together to get the Groundwork Youth conversation going. YAB members were all also involved with the youth-led ‘Inclusive Spaces’ campaign  that ran in the summer of 2018 that brought young people together with community groups across the UK to collaborate on local events, raise the profile of local parks and green spaces and encouraged intergenerational community action.

The recruitment links in with Groundwork’s long-term commitment to have ensure young people are an integral part of the charity, with the recent decision have representation in the governance structure of the organisation at board level wider than the Youth Advisory Board remit.
