Rochdale streets to become 20mph zones

Streets in Cutgate and Greave are to become safer and much more peaceful following a campaign by local councillors, Faisal Rana and Wendy Cocks.
Falkland Avenue and Jutland Avenue, along with Cutgate Road and Amy Street, have now been designated 20 mile per hour zones by the council.
Councillor Rana said: “Twenty is plenty.
“We have been campaigning alongside residents for the speed reductions. Too many cars were travelling too fast putting residents’ lives – including children – in danger.”
Councillor Cocks added: “Some of the streets are quite narrow and congested so the existing 30mph speed limit was too much. I’m pleased we’ve been able to make the area much safer and peaceful.”
Councillor Cecile Biant, who initiated the project, said: “The residents have been complaining about speeding cars for long time and I am very pleased to see this has now completed.”
