A 44-year-old man from Middleton was arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed until January 28 2008.

At 9.15pm on Wednesday 7 January 1998, a 41-year-old woman was walking along Oldham Road, close to the junction with Great Ancoats Street in Manchester City Centre. As she walked along she was grabbed from behind by a man who forced her into a back street and raped her.
