Summer fun for East Central Rochdale

Date published: 05 August 2008

The East Central Rochdale family fun day returns this weekend, with lots of activities and entertainment on offer to celebrate the local community.

The event is also a chance for local people to find out about the latest progress with the extensive regeneration works going on in Wardleworth, Hamer, Townhead, Cloverhall, Bellshill and Mayfield.

Heybrook Primary School on Halifax Road is the venue, on Saturday 9 August. The fun begins at 12 noon and continues until 6pm. Amongst the activities on offer will be rock climbing, football skills, face painting, henna art and hair braiding and much more.

Many local organisations will be coming along to showcase their activities throughout the neighbourhood, including Surestart, Regenda housing, Greater Manchester Fire Service and Rochdale Council’s Environmental Management service.

The event will include an opportunity for local people to review environmental improvements that have taken place in the local neighbourhoods, and to suggest sites that could be tackled in future work.

Community Development Worker Kate Arnold said, "The fun day is a popular event and once again there will be plenty to see and do. Everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate the local community."

The HMR Community Development Team in East Central Rochdale have organised the day in partnership with Rochdale Youth Service and the Hamer Youth Group.
