Christmas tree recycling points
Don't let your real Christmas tree go to waste after the festive season. Recycle it. Rochdale Council will collect your real Christmas tree and send it to be turned into Revive Compost right here in the borough of Rochdale.
Put your real Christmas tree IN your brown bin
- Remove the base and all decorations. You can put the base in your dark green bin.
- Chop it up and put it in your brown recycling bin. The trunk needs to be thinner than your wrist.
- Your bin lid needs to close.
Put your real Christmas tree BY your brown bin
- Remove the base and all decorations. You can put the base in your dark green bin.
- Leave your real tree next to your brown bin or caddy when you put your bins out for collection.
Take your real Christmas tree to a recycling point
Christmas tree recycling points are open from 1 January - 2nd Friday of January when you can drop your Christmas tree off at the following locations:

- Bentley Street, opposite Clarence Street, spare ground

- Bank Top or Cherwell Avenue, open space
- Darnhill, Sutherland Road, car park area by shops
- Higher Lomax Lane, open space
- Hopwood Park, car park off Manchester Road
- Queen’s Park, Queen's Park Road, car park

- Alkrington Woods Car Park, opposite Golf Club
- Boarshaw Road, open space

Artificial Christmas trees
If you no longer require your artificial Christmas tree you can
- Donate your unwanted item.
- Put it in your green household waste bin.
- Take it to the household waste (tip) and recycling centre.
