Youngster suffers broken jaw in crash

A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured in a road traffic collision on Oldham Road yesterday evening (Monday 4 August).
At about 6.20pm the boy was riding his BMX bike when he came into the path of an oncoming Vauxhall Astra.
In an effort to avoid a collision, the boy swerved and fell off his bike.
He suffered a suspected broken jaw and was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital where his condition is described as stable but serious.
He has since been transferred to Pendlebury Children's Hospital.
The driver of the Astra was not injured.
Oldham Road was closed to traffic at the junctions with Balderstone Road and Broad Lane, but these closures have since been lifted.
