Councillor praises street cleaning team

Councillor Faisal Rana, Spotland & Falinge Ward with the local street cleaning team
Councillor Faisal Rana spent a day with the local street cleaning team, in his Spotland and Falinge Ward and raised residents’ concerns, including the lack of bins.
Councillor Rana said: “Our street cleansing operatives are a hard-working bunch who go out in all weathers to keep our roads looking clean and tidy. They tackle problems from grot-spots and litter to fly-tipping. They are the council’s unsung heroes.
“I wanted to go out with the team to see just how difficult their job is. They work non-stop and shift tonnes of rubbish every year.
“It can be a dangerous job too when shifting broken glass and needles. But the team never complain and just get on with it.
“The council has invested more money in cleaning up the borough in recent years. It is important that we present a good impression of the town.
“We can all help make their job a little easier by not dropping litter and taking our rubbish home.”
