Rochdale Choir spread the Christmas cheer for Prevent Breast Cancer

Date published: 23 December 2018

Singers from Rochdale took to the stage at this year’s annual Prevent Breast Cancer Christmas Celebration at Manchester Cathedral on the evening of Friday 21 December.

The evening started with a musical nativity play performed by local children, followed by a performance from The Rock Choir’s Greater Manchester East group, which includes singers from Rochdale.

The Rock Choir was joined by a variety of choirs from across Manchester singing Christmas classics. Also performing are The Nightingale Choir, comprising staff and volunteers from The Nightingale Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, where the charity is based.

The event also featured a Christmas market, where attendees were able to pick up last-minute gifts and enjoy a range of festive food and drink.

Nikki Barraclough, executive director at Prevent Breast Cancer, said: “The charity has had a great year and we’re so proud of what we have been able to achieve. “The support and generosity that we have received has been overwhelming, and 2019 is set to be an even bigger year for the charity.

“Our aim is to create a future free from breast cancer, so that no-one will ever have to face the disease.

“This event raised crucial funds for the charity and get us ever closer to our goal of raising £1 million per year, but we were so thrilled to have this event to say thank you to our amazing supporters, staff and researchers.”

Prevent Breast Cancer, which is the only charity in the UK to focus solely on the prediction and prevention of the disease.
