Man in critical condition after Edinburgh Way smash

A 19-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by a car on Edinburgh Way.
Police were called to the accident at the pedestrian crossing close to the junction with Manchester Road shortly after 5.40pm on Saturday (2 August).
The 19-year-old who was using the pedestrian crossing was hit a Ford Connect van, smashing the van's windscreen as he went over the bonnet.
The injured man was taken to Rochdale Infirmary for treatment to head injuries. He was later transferred to Hope Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
