Residents delighted at ‘No Through Road’ sign

Date published: 17 December 2018

Residents on The Green and The Woods are delighted after local councillors, Aasim Rashid and Billy Sheerin, helped them get a ‘No Through Road’ sign at the entrance to their estate.

Residents on The Green, in Castleton, were desperate for a ‘No Through Road’ sign to be installed following frequent incidents of drivers and walkers turning into the small estate, expecting to find industrial and warehouse units or a short cut through to Manchester Road.

One incident involved a double trailer lorry/unit nearly take out a garden wall.

Cllr Aasim Rashid said: “Since I have been elected as Castleton Ward Councillor I have been actively involved in helping local residents, listening to issues raised by them regarding road conditions, pot holes, anti-social behaviour, improvement of the village green, street cleaning and adult care issues.

“We have been allocated some extra funding to improve roads in Castleton, working closely with local police and Rochdale Community Safety team.

“We are working hard to keep Castleton a safer, greener and cleaner ward.”
