A delicious international food festival took place at Deeplish Community Centre on Saturday 15 December, organised in partnership with Multicultural Resource Centre and Rahzeero Community Support.
Opening the festival was the main guest of honour, Mayor Mohammed Zaman, who also launched the centre’s multicultural recipe book with a variety of new and cultural culinary delights, produced by a number of community groups.
The event was well-attended with free children’s craft activities and free food samples, such as south Asian, British, Italian, Arabic and African cuisines.
The project was funded and supported by Awards for All.
Dr A K Skakoor MBE said: “By providing resources, sessions and festival, this project has created more understanding between different cultures and communities so that they appreciate each other’s values.”
Tasneem Shahzad, from Rahzeero, said: “It is good to see people coming together from diverse cultures, communities and backgrounds to celebrate healthy eating and wellbeing.”
The recipe book can be obtained free of charge from Deeplish Community Centre.
